Have An Antique Look In Your Home
If you are tired of the usual and the same style of the bedroom furniture and other decorations of the house, then it is time you need a change. Most people either go for a contemporary look for their house; they design the house using modern bedroom furniture sets and other furniture pieces and they have modern wall and ceiling art in their homes. Although, this modern look is good, but the inhabitants soon feel like living in a hotel instead of a home. Even people coming to visit feel uncomfortable as usually, the modern furniture and interior design looks very daunting and gaudy. On the other hand, if the people go for a simple look for their home, using less furniture pieces and leaving most of the space empty, if it is not needed, then the house looks boring and incomplete. For these reasons, it is important to combine both contemporary and antique looks to add a touch of coziness and warmth in the house.
If you need a change from the usual looks, then you can also try out a complete antique look for your home. Or even better, you can go for an antique look in one of your bedrooms instead of having it for the whole house. For antique look of your bedroom, you can have country-style bedroom furniture. With Antique Bedroom Furniture, it is not meant to have shabby furniture but to get furniture that is in accordance with the old fashion and has a traditional touch. Country style furniture adds a touch of warmth and coziness to your bedroom, which is very important since you usually spend a lot of time in your room. Bedrooms are usually a safe haven for people who reside to their room for a relaxing time, away from their busy daily routines. For this, a cozy room that has a simple look but also looks good is very important. Country-style bedroom furniture gives that homely touch to your bedroom.
Country style bedroom furniture sets are usually a bit expensive as they are hand made and made by expert artisans who know how to make furniture that fits in the modern look of the overall house but also looks traditional. The main difference that you find in the country style furniture is that these are made by hand. The wood is stained in these bedroom furniture sets and the style of the furniture has an old-fashioned touch. The decor of the room with country-style bedroom furniture is done accordingly. You cannot have modern wall and ceilings art with the antique bedroom furniture sets. For decoration pieces, you can have a combination of antique and modern pieces. The lamp stands should be antique. On the walls, paintings and original, traditional and contemporary work of art looks the best. It is best to leave the ceilings bare as the ceilings wood art looks very gaudy and daunting. If you really want some ceiling art, then a border made with plaster in the old-fashioned way looks good.
Antique bedroom furniture looks best in the dark shade of brown. The bed should be a four-poster bed with curtains falling on the sides. This setting and decoration certainly looks magnificent.

4×6 / 4” x 6” Frame for Picture or Photo, Gold, style #610 $6.62 This is a brand new 4×6 picture/photo frame (meaning a 4” x 6” or a 6” x 4” print will fit just right). Solid wood 1.375” wide and 1” thick molding with a 0.25” deep rabbet is covered with a thin layer of gesso and painted gold. It also features thin fancy rope design touched with patina. One of our oldest designs; available in a few colors, each still popular. This rare shade of gold is a good seller, as it’s neither super-shiny-bright, nor real dark antique. It serves its purpose of making an accent, as any gold frame does, yet does not attract more attention than the picture itself. If you’re looking a gold frame to match your furniture or home accessories, not a screaming centerpiece – this is the frame you need. Honest frame for your most dear photograph, artwork, craft project, etc., wherever you chose to hang it: office, living room, hallway, bedroom, or even kitchen of any style and size. Makes a nice Father’S Day gift! Measures 8.75 x 6.75 x 1 on the outside. Comes complete with glass, backboard, dual easel for table top use, and hooks already attached. |

Furniture Restoration $50 Who doesn’t love to watch Antiques Roadshow ? And who doesn’t secretly suspect that Mom’s sewing cabinet, that great thrift-store table, or Grandpa’s rocking chair could someday be the star of the show? If only the cabinet door hung straight…if only the table weren’t all scratched up…if only the chair still rocked. Now it’s easy to get those pieces ready for their close-up! Furniture Restoration makes it simple to assess and repair favorite pieces, whether they’re family heirlooms or flea-market finds. Authors Ina Brosseau Marx and Allen Marx share more than thirty years of experience in all kinds of antique furniture restoration. The first chapter gives readers an overview of restoration and explains exactly how to tell when a piece is valuable enough to use a professional restorer. The rest of the book guides the reader through furniture restoration and repairs of every kind, looking at common problems on different pieces and some quick fixes as well as the properties of wood, repairing joinery, restoring surfaces, making molds and casts, restoring color, repairing veneers, finishes, and ornamented surfaces, and much, much more. More than 600 full-color photos and dozens of before-and-afters let readers see exactly how to fix whatever is wrong without going wrong themselves. |

On a dreary day in October I had to visit one of the remote villages high up in the moorland district. The wind howled, and the rain beat down pitilessly, as my Welsh-car jolted me, and swayed me to Llangastanaul Rectory, where I had been invited to spend the night. I was by no means sure of comfortable quarters, for I had never seen my host : his invitation came through my chief. But the alternative course, a long drive in the early morning to the parish school, was still less attractive, and I made up my mind to take college port, or buttermilk, as the case might be. When the car turned off the bleak road into a sheltered drive leading up to a solid-looking house, with gleams of light in the windows, and smoke issuing from several chimneys, my spirits rose : and when I saw the neat-handed Phyllis at the door, and behind her a scholarly, yet sociable face beaming over a well-lined waistcoat, I felt that I was in for a good thing : thelot had fallen unto me in a fair ground. There was no Mrs. Rector—there is much to be said for celibacy of the clergy—and we made our way to a library with a bright leaping fire of logs, and the most admirable furniture that a library can have, two arm chairs, a long table, and three walls full of books. As for seats other than the arm chairs, one remembers the remark of—was itnot the visitor to Charles Lamb ?—” all the seats were booked.” On each chair was a pile of volumes taken down from the shelves, and not replaced : so free and careless is the celibate life. But Phyllis Jones eyed them scornfully as she passed, and during dinner they |

Sons Of The Convenant $32.1 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:CHAPTER II Thrust away somewhere amid the architectural tangle of the Spitalfields district is Narrow Alley. It bears a disconsolate, dumbfounded look, like that of a child which has lost its way among a crowd, and its score or so of hovel houses seem to be spending their time all day in manufacturing apologies for surviving. The top stories on either side sloped yearningly forward towards one another, and had the dwellings been but a little taller, the alley would have been a tunnel; as it was, the daylight managed to squeeze itself through the slit by dint of much exertion, which reduced it to the very shadow of itself. Just at present that did not so much matter, because it was evening, the same evening, in fact, whereon Mrs. Lipcott’s application for relief was being fabricated by the Diamond couple. The interior of Mrs. Lipcott’s house in Narrow Alley, of which house she shared tenancy with an infinite number of other families, could not be said to disprove violently her fitness’to rank as a recipient of charity. Its furniture was severely simple, with a leaning toward the antique and a desire to resolve itself once more into its constituent elements. But besides its decrepit chairs, beds, and table, the room contained healthier and more able-bodied effects in the shape of the two little boys figuring in the report as aged thirteen and twelve respectively. As far as the consumptive-looking lamplight enabled one to be sure of one’s impression, it ‘ AIN’T I PEEMNG AS HARD AS I CAN?” appeared that these two little boys were engaged in preparing a meal. The angry crackle of seething oil tended to give color, as well as odor, to the conjecture. ” Hurry up there, Leuw,” said Phil, the younger of the brothers, ” mother’ll be here presently.” “All right; ain’t I pee… |

Villette $44.95 When I was a girl I went to Bretton about twice a year, and well I liked the visit. The house and its inmates specially suited me. The large peaceful rooms, the well-arranged furniture, the clear wide windows, the balcony outside, looking down on a fine antique street, where Sundays and holidays seemed always to abide — so quiet was its atmosphere, so clean its pavement — these things pleased me well. One child in a household of grown people is usually made very much of, and in a quiet way I was a good deal taken notice of by Mrs. Bretton, who had been left a widow, with one son, before I knew her; her husband, a physician, having died while she was yet a young and handsome woman. . . . |
